No Finishes for March.
There we were toddling along in life. Indiana's ear problem seemed to be improving and then we hit a bump in the road. Well, I certainly did when I had a car accident one morning on my way to work. While I didn't actually hit a bump, I did collide with someone else and now my car is off the road being repaired. After a few days off work I am fine.
Just after that, we noticed that Indiana seemed to be suffering some side effects of the medication he was given by the specialist for his ear. To cut a long story short, he developed diabetes and spent nearly a week in hospital. He was very very sick for a while there. He is home now and is on insulin and a special diet and will be monitored very closely for the next little while. The vet seems to think that his prognosis is good. We are very grateful for the wonderful care he was given by our local vet.
If you own a brown Burmese or a chocolate Australian Mist (which have a lot of Burmese in their genes), be aware that these cats seem to have a predisposition to developing diabetes.
So our Easter holidays will be a lot different to what we had antcipated. But that is ok, we are all together and moving forward (albeit somewhat slowly).
