ONE PROJECT A MONTH CHALLENGE JANUARY FINISH
After getting assistance and support from the Chocolate Cat, the scrap quilt is done!
And as seems to be the trend with my projects, this quilt has moved around. Looking at it, I have fond memories of working on it at the first place we lived in Brisbane in 2005. Inspired by a similar quilt in the Quick Quilts magazine, the blocks are mostly made of bits n pieces from the scrap box. The backing is from my stash and the borders and the green fabric were purchased on a day out with a friend. This quilt is packed with lots of good memories.
Back of quilt
After being quilted in Brisbane in 2006, it moved around with us in Brisbane as we moved residences and then had a long rest in Melbourne while it waited to be reunited with the binding fabric that was hiding in the cupboard. (click here for blog post on finding the fabric)
A couple of weeks ago, quilt AND the binding were carefully packed into the luggage and flew with us back to Brisbane where it has all come together.
Indiana just loves this quilt. Not a particularly large quilt, progress was slow on sewing down the binding. Every time I picked it up, Indiana wanted to snuggle on it. A large Australian Mist cat and a quilt with wool batting and the heat of a Brisbane summer do not mix well together even with air conditioning! In the end, I had to wait until he was sleeping soundly to work on it.
And since it has been finished, Indiana has checked it thoroughly by running under and over it.
Project done!
And while all quilts are good, I think this one for me will always be that extra bit special as it holds so many good memories of good times spent in our northern home.

It's a beautiful quilt, and I love the binding story, also the flat out cat!!!
I love your quilt! I think I have one very similiar to it lurking in my UFO pile waiting to be quilted. I so understand about trying to sew on binding with a cat on the quilt....challenging! My Max, the siamese is the same way...right in the middle of it all! Great finish!
